Destination-1AC

Day 1: Transfer from Arusha/Moshi to Lake Natron base camp through the Rift Valley

It takes about 6 hours to get there. Dinner and overnight at Lake Natron campsite

Day 2: Climb Ol Doinyo Lengai – camp on top

Early in the morning, you get up and prepare for the climb to Ol Doinyo Lengai. While porters carry the equipment and our water for the light camp, we ascend along steep ridge until we reach the inactive south crater, after 3-5 hrs climbing (depending on your pace). On the south crater, a light camp is set up in the midst of an ash desert, formed by Lengai’s recent eruptions in 2007/2008. You have the whole afternoon, the night and the next morning for observations of the active ash cone and exploration of the crater area. Dinner and overnight at crater camp

Day 3-4: Comfortable break near Lake Natron

After a 2 to 4 hour’s descent our vehilcle pick us up at the base. We relax in our comfortable Lake Natron campsite. In the afternoon visits Lake Natron with its thousands of flamingos and take a swim in a paradisiacal waterfall in a narrow gorge with wonderful stone formations… Here we find the desert rose as well. Dinner and overnight at crater camp

Day 5: Lake Manyara game drives

Drive to Mto wa Mbu. Game viewing in Lake Manyara National Park with picnic lunch, dinner and overnight at Twiga campsite
